Custom Plastic Packaging

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if everything in the world was as well packaged as the human body? Though we may not be able to compete with the work of god, custom plastic packaging is the nearest we can get to it. There were day not very distant in the past when packaging was a matter of convenience and anything ,from Newspapers to dull brown paper bags , was all there was to it. But things have changed. More than what is inside, the outer custom plastic packaging has become important. They have become more attractive, more alluring and has almost been raised to the level of fine art. It is like the proverbial tail wagging the dog.

Some experts believe that modern technology has more to do with the popularity of custom plastic packaging than anything else. The size, shape and contours of packaging are more varied than the hair on the pretty head of a beautiful maiden. Similarly, custom plastic packaging make heads turn because of their sheer attractiveness. Who can ignore the powerful pull of a well wrapped up and shapely   piece of packaging?  

Custom plastic packaging means much more than just good looks. It provides effective protection to whatever lies inside it. Besides being lightweight, they can be molded easily into convenient shapes, which would be impossible with other packaging material. In terms of cost custom plastic packaging can be economical compared to other substitutes. In factory settings too, their use can lead to substantial time saving along with ease of handling. This is one of the reasons why many manufacturers have shifted from corrugated boxes to the more convenient and cheaper alternative.  

Custom plastic packaging has another major advantage over other materials. The choice of plastic material depends on the end use. Chemical resistance, protection against moisture and heat dissipation are some properties which decide the selection of particular form of plastic. PVC, PET and ABS are among several types of plastic. Expensive and delicate goods like crystals are now finding themselves in custom plastic packaging. The packaging by itself has become so attractive that people get carried away more by it than the actual merchandise contained within. One of the areas where it has made major inroads is in electronics sector. Electronic goods are by nature delicate and usually small in size. Custom plastic packaging goes well with these products. End users also find it easier to handle them. The shelf life of plastics is another reason why it is used extensively. Long term preservation of items without deterioration in packaging can be achieved with plastics.  

There is a misconception that custom plastic packaging is costlier than traditional packaging materials. This is the reason many manufacturers continue with their old, tried and tested materials. Who wants the trouble of going through a change when what they have works well and to their satisfaction? These diehard traditionalists would be shocked to know that they are in fact losing money by not switching to custom plastic packaging. One can save on cost at different stages of manufacture, storage and delivery. Designing, developing and making is far easier and the time taken between the drawing board and delivery is compressed in case of custom plastic packaging.  

Green warriors are seen to be against custom plastic packaging. They reason that plastics are the ultimate polluters of mother earth because they are not biodegradable. Though this logic cannot be questioned, there are other powerful reasons in favor of plastics. We are losing green cover because of the alarming rate at which trees are being cut for their wood. Ultimately this is leading to global warming since enough trees are not there to convert carbon dioxide to oxygen. In the long run custom plastic packaging would reduce cutting down of trees and contribute towards greening of the planet. Meanwhile, researchers are working tirelessly to find ways to dispose off plastics in a safer way. Recycling technology has also been developed and will be used extensively in the days to come. 

Custom plastic packaging has several advantages over traditional materials. Manufacturers are gravitating towards this new technology because of the obvious advantages it offers. It is cost effective and easier to handle. More than anything else, it is attractive and gives a special appeal to products. It is said that a man is known by the clothes he wears. The same is true for products. After all, human mind is attracted to things which look good and custom plastic packaging fits the bill.
